When
Liz Ramsey, a detective with the Hartersburg, NC Police Department
is called out in the middle of the night to investigate the
murder of a prostitute, she expects the investigation to be
unpleasant and possibly difficult. She doesn't expect to meet
the most magnetic man she's ever encountered. Nor does she expect
the strange twists the investigation will take, leading into
some of the darker byways of the human psyche. And nothing could
prepare her for the heartbreaking decision she'll eventually
have to make to solve the case.
Reviews
for Shadow of a Doubt
"The story's well written, fast paced and engrossing. I liked Liz Ramsey from the start. Her character is solid, believable and interesting. It's romantic suspense at its best and I highly recommend it."

From Futures Mystery Anthology Magazine:
Why pick SHADOW OF A DOUBT? Let me break it down for you:
Situation: Murder.
Players: Liz Ramsey and Greg Conyers
Good news: Instant attraction.
Bad news: She's the homicide detective and he's the prime suspect.
Not convinced? Well, then how about I put it this way:
Non-stop, can't put down, driving story with real characters. The basic male/female relationship twisted into a gut-wrenching tale of secrets, fears, and duty--all climaxing to an ending that kept me guessing.
Ms McCullough's writing is alive. That's why you need to read SHADOW OF A DOUBT!

FIVE HEARTS from The Romance Studio:
"This has to be the best mystery/suspense story I’ve read in a very long time. The romance part is top notched too. I was drawn in and immediately identified with Liz as she fell so hard for her hero, wishing with all her heart to believe in him, but fearing her judgment was affected by her feelings for him. Greg is a sympathetic hero, very in tune with Liz’s needs, even while all hell breaks loose around him. The sex is arousing, sweet and oh, so, satisfying despite being an isolated event. The focus of the story is the mystery, suspense and romance rather than the sex, but that doesn’t keep the sex from being hot enough to melt metal. I was completely immersed in the mystery, left panting by the suspense and my heart literally ached for the lovers and their predicament. I loved this book, one of the best in the genre. Don’t miss this one."

Four Stars from Romantic Times
"This psychological thriller had me ripping through pages
at the speed of light. Every time I'd think I had things figured
out, I'd be thrown a curve. A must read, but be sure to read
it with the lights on."
---Kathy Boswell, Romantic
Times
"Karen McCullough masterfully brings to light the darkness and passion that is deep within us all. She in “Shadow of a Doubt” has created a true page turner that challenges the reader to look beyond the obvious until the bitter end. Balancing fiction with fact, she has created a truly unique romance-detective story."
-- ENCHANTING REVIEW BY Rowan E. Wagner
"
I was completely hooked into the mystery and couldn't stop turning
the pages."
--Laura
Novak, The Romance Journal
"This was a real thriller. Though the reader will no
doubt discover the perpetrator before the detective, the case
is exciting, the emotions high. We are helpless to do anything
but watch as Greg is torn between the people that he loves and
his responsibility to do what is right. It is not an easy road,
but the ending is very satifying."

Romance Reviews
"SHADOW
OF A DOUBT is an entertaining police procedural romance
with some paranormal and Gothic elements. Though done many times
before, the story line is fun to read even with the audience
knowing the killer's identity long before the police have any
concept of who did it. Greg is the classic recluse found in
Gothic tales and Liz is a wonderful heroine. Readers will have
no doubts that they thoroughly enjoyed Karen McCullough's novel."
